The reason Almost Home is so comfortable for our patients is because we operate in a beautiful converted residence at 1919 Van Buren in Great Bend. This unique arrangement allows us to provide all the comforts of HOMEplus quality medical care in an environment that really feels like home. Spacious living and sleeping rooms, a walk-in jet bath tub, and a big screen television help our patients settle in nicely with the comforts of home and the medical care they need.
Low Caregiver-to-Resident Ratio
Our design is based on the "home plus" model, offering residents more amenities and greater comfort. Occupancy is ten people for overnight stays. Four rooms are double occupancy, with an available suite for married couples. Two private rooms are dedicated for hospice care. Almost Home features a wheelchair accessible shower and personal laundry services are included, meaning each resident's laundry is done separately, exceeding industry standards.
Adult Day Care & Respite Services
Having an aging loved one doesn't mean your life can go on hold. We can help fill in the gaps to cover a weekend away or a family vacation, letting you enjoy some much-needed rest knowing that your loved one is in great hands. With our Day Care services, families are able to drop off their loved one at Almost Home, where they will be included in the daily activities. And if you are in need of short-term care, Respite Care for overnight stays can be coordinated as well. Prior notice required for scheduling.
Homemade Meals & Social Activities
After each resident wakes naturally, they are greeted with a made-to-order breakfast. Coffee on the front porch is a resident favorite when the weather is nice. Lunch, dinner, and desserts are always homemade and served family style, giving residents an opportunity to socialize and interact around the dinner table.
Other activities include daily motion exercises, devotions, puzzles, games, bingo, and weekly craft classes - all per resident choice and physical functioning. Communion is also offered weekly for our Catholic residents. Some patients also enjoy sitting on one of the large covered porches to watch the birds during warm weather seasons.
End of Life Care
End of Life Care (hospice care) is important at Almost Home. We want our residents to go to their heavenly home peacefully and with dignity. Rooms are available for end-of-life care, often facilitated by licensed, local agencies offering hospice services. We can help your family select the appropriate agency and will work side-by-side with their staff to ensure the best possible care. Families of these patients can utilize a private living space separate from the other residents.
